COUNCILLOR MARTIN PRESTIDGE
I was first elected as a member of Warley County Borough Council in 1971, as a member for the Rounds Green Ward of Oldbury. Local Government re-organisation occurred shortly afterwards and I became a founder Member of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council in 1973. I left Sandwell Council in 1975 and served on the West Midlands County Council from its inception in 1973 until its abolition in 1986.
I then re-joined Sandwell in 1987as a member for the Langley Ward and have served continuously since that date. From 1996 to 1997 I was Deputy Mayor, and was Mayor of Sandwell from 2003 to 2004. I am currently Chair of the Finance and Resources Scrutiny Panel and Vice Chair of the Scrutiny Management Board. I am a Governor of Langley Primary School and also of Causeway Green Primary School. I am Chair of the Barlow Trust.
